UNSOLVED HOMICIDES
This issue to me is probably the toughest to deal with. I believe that the Vigo County Sheriffs Department currently has around 8 to 11 unsolved homicides. The reason I don’t know the exact number is simply because it is not an issue that they want to discuss. I think this is an issue that they don’t want to have to address. Unsolved homicides have to be addressed. The victims and their families are owed justice .
Although the Vigo County Sheriffs Department has deemed one deputy to “cold cases”. In my opinion a MURDER case should never be deemed a “cold case”. My short term and long term plan would be to pull together the resources of several law enforcement agencies to do nothing but re-generate these murder cases. Our community needs a Homicide Task Force. Too many criminals have gotten away with murder in this county.
One topic I have been asked about has been the Scott Javins case. I would like to say first, that I have not read the case file nor do I have any in-depth information on the case. However, based on the information that I have available to me at this time, I do feel that this case needs to be re-evaluated by a “fresh set of eyes”.
